About Elsenham

The village of Elsenham is located in north west Essex.

A village called “Alsenham” was recorded in the Domesday book in 1086, it is thought that a Saxon, Alsa, formed his home or ‘Ham’ here in the 6th Century. In the present day, Elsenham has many active organisations, societies and sports clubs. Indeed, the village is well known for sporting achievement. Olympic gold medal winning show jumper Ben Maher is based at Elsenham Stud Farm. Our gold post box is a testament to Ben’s achievement at the 2012 Olympics.
